What are you “rewiring”?
If you’re just replacing the outlet itself, it takes about five minutes and the ancient wires just plug into the new socket. Get one from Autozone/Advance/Napa/Whatever for about five bucks. Make sure it’s the kind with a center post (screw) and a single flat blade at the bottom.
