I’m a 16 year ancient girl, аnd I wаѕ given a Silver 2000 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. Don’t gеt mе incorrect, I lіkе іt! I јυѕt want tο mаkе іt qυісkеr. It іѕ аn involuntary аnd hаѕ 125,000 miles οn іt.
A stock GT is PLENTY quick enough as it is for a 16 yr ancient greenhorn w/ no major driving experience (just question the insurance companionship)
Not to bring up convertibles don’t exactly make the best performance cars w/ their compromised structure and extra weight from the mandatory factory reinforcement measures on the underside of the car.
Maybe question this question again in 3-5 years when you really know how to drive, and if you still have it in one piece.
You’re 16, have a Mustang, and you want to make it quicker, right? Will your next question be “Where can I find the “cheapest” insurance”? Like that’s gonna happen. The 16-25 demographic has the most accidents and gets the most tickets, therefore pays the highest insurance rates.
If you want to make performance modifications to your Mustang, why not start by making it SAFER. (It is YOUR live after all). That would be things like a beefier braking system, and a better front suspension, or stickier tires. That should be the basics.
As for making it quicker you really can’t lacking changing the gear ratio in the differential, but there are a few simple things you can do to make it accelerate a small quicker. A cold air intake system, or a freer flowing LEGAL exhaust system may help.
Please note that all of these things will cost a LOT of money. Most valuable is to be financially smart by NEVER, NEVER allow your boyfriend to drive YOUR car. When a boyfriend wrecks his girlfriends car he RARELY ever pays for the hurt.
Keep it stock and race in F-stock division in autocross. You won’t win, but you’ll have fun and that’s all that counts.
P.S. Lost a friend when she lost control of her camaro while racing, please don’t do that to your friends and loved ones.
Sweet a girl with a GT That’s pretty cool. theres alot of things you can do to make it quicker. it depends how much money you wanna spend. things like exhaust. cold air intake + a tune will do you pretty excellent. go to americanmuscle.com and select your year GT and they will give you everything you need for more power. But like the other guys said don’t race around the street. its okay to hit the gas once in awhile on a back road but as an inexperienced driver you don’t wanna do it on the streets just yet.
excellent luck
The new two valve Trick Flo heads with some descent cams & a set of long tube headers will get you close to 400 hp.
