Can I put a 5.0L mustang engine in a 5.0L Mountaineer?

I hаνе a 99 Mountaineer 5.0L аnd wаѕ wondering іf thеrе аrе аnу aftermarket раrtѕ fοr thіѕ engine οr іf I саn swap out thе engine wіth a 5.0L mustang engine. Or, wіll 5.0L mustang раrtѕ interchange wіth thе Mountaineer engine? Wіll thе computer hаνе tο bе adjusted οr саn I swap іt out wіth another?

    you should be able to. if both engines are a 1999 then the computer should recognize the other engine but make sure all the vacuum hoses will hook up the same.

    You can, but it’s pretty much a step backwards. 5.0 Mountaineer/Explorers are known to have about the best performing stock 5.0 heads, the GT40P’s. The intake is also improved over the Mustang 5.0′s. So hardly worth doing and adapting to make less power.
    Quite a few 5.0 aftermarket “Mustang” performance parts work fantastic on your current engine. Different cams, larger throttle bodies, stuff like that. Certainly your best route for more performance. Choose carefully some stuff is designed specifically for cars and won’t work on your SUV, such as exhaust headers.
